Dear Parents

TEACHER DAYS
May I remind you all, that Monday 31 January is a Teacher Training Day and therefore children should not come into school on that day. There are two more Teacher Days on:
Monday 28 February
Monday 12 June

ROAD CLOSURE
Please note the road to the EYB will be closed on Monday 31 January as the EYB chimney is being demolished (sadly no explosions) and a new one put up.
Will parents using the nursery and child care facilities on Monday please use the far door into the building.

ORCHARD CENTRE
The letter quoted below has been issued by The Orchard Centre for Community Health, Lower Hillmorton Road, Rugby, CV21 3SR. The letter concerns those parents who have children in the reception class.

TESCO - COMPUTERS FOR SCHOOLS-2000
Yes, we will be collecting, again, this year. Please look out for the vouchers from 31 January for ten weeks upto 09 April.

MILLENNIUM CONCERT
The children involved in the Stretton Chamber Choir Millennium Concert performed magnificently and the school is justly proud of them. My thanks to Rosemary Mailey and the choir for their invitation to the school to sing with them. I hope the experience can be repeated some time.

ROAD SAFETY WORK
At half term there should be road works at school to improve the safety for pedestrians who use the pavement around the roundabout. This will include metal barriers between the road and the pavement, widening the pavement and enlarging the waiting area for parents. Unfortunately this has a down side, firstly it will require the removal of the shrubbery and the three trees. I have investigated all possibilities for keeping and moving them and finally the decision is to remove and replant as necessary with new plants.
Secondly, and more seriously, some parents will have to reroute their walk from car to school. This is particularly true for people who park on the lower car park.
Can I ask you to think carefully about the new route as one of the reasons for the work is to reduce the children randomly crossing the roadways.

KNIGHTLOW CHILDCARE LTD.
Increasing demand for places at our Nursery, means that we need another assistant on a temporary basis until August 2000. Hours of work are variable, but mostly in the mornings and at lunch time. Experience is not essential as training can be provided. We look after children from the age 2 up to 11, so a willingness to work with all age groups is necessary.
For more information please contact Amanda Ross on 01203 542895.
